During September, our Daily Bible Readings will be taken from the gospel of Luke. If you have any particular insights about the Gospel of Luke, the background, the context, the author or the purpose, please do share them here.

Some of our readers are experienced students of the Bible, whilst others are coming to Luke completely fresh, so do share your wisdom below!

Luke is one of the books of the Bible I don’t know much about! Luke was a physician and I know his record is one of the most technically accurate. He also wrote Acts, and I believe most theologians refer to Luke-Acts because of their similarity.

Also I think the general consensus is that Luke was later than Mark, and used Mark’s gospel – amongst other things such as the hypothetical ‘Q’ document – as a source.

Not much to go on, I know! :)
